"Memorias del Subdesarrollo/Memories of Underdeveloment". (Dir.Tomas Guiterrez Alea, 1968). Considered perhaps Gutierrez Alea’s [Titón’s] most famous work, "Memorias del Subdesarrollo" served as sort of a Rorschach test for its reader. Anti-revolutionaries saw it as a confirmation of their prejudices, and revolutionaries saw it as a preeminently revolutionary film about the suicide of a bourgeois. It traces the life and thoughts of a bourgeois Cuban intellectual during the period of time between the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
