"De Cierta Manera/One Way or Another" (dir. Sarah Gomez, 1974) is a famous but rarely viewed film by Sara Gómez, an Afro-Cuban film maker and one of the few in ICAIC, the Cuban film institute. Shortly after it was filmed, Gómez died of asthma. It’s the story of how class, race, and revolutionary consciousness collide in Cuban society. It was finished and edited by Gómez’ mentor, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.
