Charlie King has been at the heart of American folk music for over 40 years, writing and singing passionately about the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. Charlie’s songs have been recorded and sung by Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Arlo Guthrie, Ronnie Gilbert and many others. He’s released a dozen solo albums, and he’s one of the founders of the People's Music Network for Songs of Freedom and Struggle. Folk legend Peggy Seeger said, "If we had more Charlie Kings in the world I'd be less worried," to which Tom Paxton added, "Luckily, we have him!" www.charlieking.org
The Prince Myshkins are a folk/cabaret guitar/accordion duo (oh, one of those) from Madison, WI, who cram more syllables of satire into a song than should be allowed by law. Their national tours include a liberal dose of union meetings, anti-war rallies and other events where their hilarious, thought-provoking lyrics and rapid-fire vocal delivery can be brought to bear on the struggle for social justice. “Klezmer meets Godot and Brothers Grimm... the Myshkins are first-rate musicians whose sardonic songs induce life-threatening fits of laughter.” - KPBS San Diego. www.princemyshkins.com
Roy Zimmerman is Marin’s own musical satirist who’s made a “campaign promise” to take his funny songs about ignorance, war and greed to all fifty states before the election. His songs are fixtures on NPR, PRI, Air America and Sirius Radio. A video of Roy’s performance of his song “Creation Science 101” made the front page of YouTube recently and garnered over 760,000 views, and 13,000 comments, many of them coherent. The Los Angeles Times says, "Zimmerman displays a lacerating wit and keen awareness of society's foibles that bring to mind a latter-day Tom Lehrer." www.royzimmerman.com
