A Personal Invitation from Bobi Cespedes
Dear friends, colleagues, and fans:
On January 30 at La Peña, I will be celebrating my birthday by releasing my new CD Patakin. I would like to share with you my latest compositions as a gift to you for having been so loyal and loving of my music for so many years. I started in 1979, performing with the Ifa Players, at La Peña, telling stories of my heritage with Louisa Teish and Chisa Tayari. I also shared with Marcus Gordon the directorship of El Teatro Coco Santo, which graced the Bay Area with the wonderful mixture of Cuban and Brazilian music and choreography. And later with my illustrious band, Conjunto Céspedes to which you danced your feet off in the local and not so local venues of California, as well as nationally and internationally. Yes, after 22 years of glory with Conjunto, I have gone Solo; I have continued my career trying my talents, first with Rezos…a very successful experiment, and now with Patakin, exploring the world of the bolero and the smaller group format.
Marco Diaz, Saul Sierra, Julio Perez, top of the line musicians have joined me in the production and arranging of this incredible CD which I know you will like. Jose Roberto Hernandez on guitar, Sandy Perez on percussion, Lichi Fuentes, and Eric Rangel, on vocals and Roberto Razon, on Tres, also joined us in putting the final touches. We will all be performing my already world known CD, which includes a good combination of danson, sones rumbas and boleros some originals and some by other famous artists of my time.
There will be food available at the adjacent restaurant, Café Valparaiso. Come early and leave late. Party and celebrate with me on this joyous day.
